A Golden Bay student has been recognised as being the 900,000th participant of a St John programme that teaches children how to respond in emergencies.
Collingwood Area School Year 4 student Oakley Jones was named by St John Community Educator Jaimee McDonald as being the 900,000th student trained in first aid basics through the programme ASB St John in Schools.
During the two-day programme, Oakley and her fellow students at Collingwood Area School were taught first aid, CPR, emergency response, injury prevention, and disaster preparedness.
At the end of the course, Oakley was gifted a certificate celebrating her milestone, and each student was given a first aid kit from ASB.
