Resuscitation Training

Resuscitation Training

Certificate of Resuscitation and Emergency Care (CORE) is the New Zealand Resuscitation Council’s standard for resuscitation curriculum for health professionals in New Zealand. A CORE certification provides the basic skills and knowledge for the management of life-threatening illness and injury, both within and outside of a responder’s immediate environment.

Please ensure to check with your credentialing body or employer that the course you are doing meets their requirements.

CORE is available in three different courses

  • CORE Immediate
  • CORE Advanced
  • CORE Skills

CORE Immediate

This course is for responders who might be expected to manage the early stages of cardiac arrest.

  • CORE Immediate (Adult) includes adult collapse management.
  • CORE Immediate (Adult and Child) includes adult and child collapse management.

CORE Advanced

This course is for advanced responders who may be expected to manage and supervise resuscitation events.

CORE Skills

This course is for responders who require practical knowledge and skills in resuscitation.

Each CORE course and provider will have a Course Director who is responsible for the delivery of the course.

After completing either CORE Immediate and CORE Advanced, you will be awarded with a Certificate of Resuscitation and Emergency Care (CORE). The CORE Skills course does not provide a certification upon completion.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in a CORE course, you must hold a health professional qualification. The Council does not provide First Aid Training to members of the community.
